How to Store and Take Care of Your CBD

Since CBD is still fairly new to the market, you may be unsure of how to properly store and care for it. It’s important to make sure that you’re doing it correctly, otherwise it could ruin the product. Luckily, we’ve got plenty of tips and tricks on how to properly store your Nature’s Ultra CBD products. Keep reading to check them out!

How Should You Store CBD?

With CBD, there aren’t too many requirements beyond how you might store beauty products or other oils. When it comes to CBD storage, the first thing to note is that you should always keep it in the container it comes in. We pride ourselves in using high-quality materials that won’t break down over time. Most of them also come with built-in droppers, so there’s no need to transfer anything to other bottles for easier use. Plus, you can avoid contaminating the CBD oil when you don’t transfer it.

Beyond that, make sure that the temperature where the bottle will be stored isn’t in extreme temperatures. You wouldn’t want to keep it in the freezer, or in your car during the summer, for example. This can ruin the CBD oil, which no one wants! We recommend keeping your products in a cool, dry place with little sunlight exposure. You can even keep it in the fridge if you have spare room, which can extend the shelf life. Bonus tip—if your CBD oil gets too cold, or you want to warm it up for a nice massage, quickly run the bottle under warm water. This will warm the oil up without ruining it. Just be sure that the lid is on tight before doing so, that way you won’t water your products down.

Once your CBD oil is in a cool, dry place, make sure that the lid is fully closed and sealed after each use. Air and oxygen can also ruin CBD oil or dry it out, which leaves it unusable. There is also a possibility that contaminants can get into the CBD, which could cause issues for later use.

The reason we’re so particular about how you store your CBD oil is because air, heat, and light can cause your product to be ineffective. This is because cannabinoids, the most important product in CBD, begin to degrade when exposed to each of these elements. Though they will break down naturally over time, this will cause them to do so a lot quicker. So, avoiding exposure will help your product last longer and maintain a higher quality.

What is the Shelf Life of CBD?

CBD shelf life is another important thing to consider. If you don’t know how long your CBD oil products are good for, they may go bad before you get the best use out of them! Our CBD products are best used within six months, as long as you are storing them properly. After this time they can still be used, however, the cannabinoid concentration goes down. While the products are technically still good, they won’t be as effective.

Another important thing to take into consideration is how often you’re buying your products. We don’t recommend stocking up beyond having one extra bottle on hand. Any more than this could cause your products to go bad before you even get a chance to open them. Until you’re certain how quickly you use up your products, buy them as needed. Then, once you’re more familiar with your usage, you can stock up!

Does CBD Oil Expire?

After the six months we mentioned above, your product is, unfortunately, likely to expire. If your products go bad before you can use them up, we don’t recommend continuing to use them. While they won’t be harmful to you necessarily, they will be a lot less potent. And, depending on what your oil was exposed to or how long they’ve expired, they may mold. So, if you see that your CBD oil is no longer good, don’t use it. Instead, discard the product and use the packaging for different things around the house.

We recommend keeping track of when you’ve opened your products, that way you can ensure that you’re using it within the correct time period. This can look like whatever is most convenient to you. Get small, colorful stickers to add to the bottom of your bottles and write the opened date on them. That way, you know exactly how long you’ve had the product opened. Or, keep a list of all the Nature’s Ultra CBD oil products you have and the date you’ve opened them.

How to Tell if CBD Oil is Bad

When it comes to knowing whether your CBD oil has expired or not, it will get easier to tell the more you use it. But, there are a few key characteristics that you can look for. First, you can check the consistency of your CBD oil. If it’s thicker, thinner, or separated, that might be a sign that your CBD oil’s shelf life is up.

In addition to consistency, your oil may look different. The color may vary, or it might look cloudier than it was when you first bought it. If you notice this after you’ve applied it to your skin, make sure to wash it off immediately! Even though it likely won’t cause too many problems, it’s better to be safe than sorry.

Lastly, make sure to check the scent of your CBD oil if you’re worried that it has expired. Our CBD oil has scents such as cinnamon, citrus, lavender, and more! While your expired CBD oil isn’t likely to smell rotten, the essential oils may become less potent over time, reducing the strength of the smell. They may also smell slightly off, different from the freshness of a new bottle. If this is the case, make sure you discard the oil right away. That way you can keep yourself and everyone else in your household safe and using the best products possible.
